History</b:>pedophile</s> Duke of Tanas. Although he received an exorbitant amount of money, it all seemed hollow, somewhat. He felt a bit more than a pang of guilt for selling his friend, but even as he was making the bargain, he was already formulating a plan to free him.
The night of, he led Reyson to Serenes Forest, as Reyson had not seen what had once been his home for over twenty years. Then, came the betrayal. Ike and co. freed Reyson the same night, but Reyson jumped out the window and into Serenes. Tibarn hated Naesala more because of the betrayal. However, two chapters later, he obtained Reyson’s forgiveness and news that Leanne was alive.
Except then Leanne got captured. To make up for the whole betraying Reyson dealie, he disguised himself as a beorc soldier and rescued her from her tower. He didn’t originally plan to join Ike in his fight against Ashnard, but Nealuchi convinced him to, using Reyson and Leanne as his aces. After the final battle, although Tibarn extended his invitation for Ike to visit Phoenicis, Naesala still had his image going, saying that Kilvas had a policy not to let beorc visit.
Three years later, in FE10, he was part of the Laguz Alliance. He and Tibarn even had a sort of amiable relationship. They weren’t friends, but they weren’t enemies, either. Tibarn even trusted Naesala, to an extent. However, because of the blood pact, Naesala betrayed Tibarn and the Alliance by drawing Tibarn and the troops away from Phoenicis while Begnion soldiers marched in and killed all the men.
He actually felt guilty for that. There was nothing he could do but move on. He became Sanaki’s personal bodyguard, and though he protested that he was forced to, he actually didn’t mind, all that much. He certainly stayed when he could have left. When Sanaki joined up with Micaiah, he came along.
At the end of the war, the blood pact was ripped up, and he, and Kilvas, were free. He achieved his dream of getting a bit of the mainland for his ravens, too, when all the bird tribes moved into Serenes. He stepped down as king, partially because he knew Tibarn could do a better job and partially due to his guilt over the Phoenicis massacre. He became a diplomatto con Begnion nobles out of their money* to find atonement. And, there was Leanne. For the first time in a long while, he was content.
Until he got catapulted into Memento Eden.

Naesala is arrogant, cocky bastard, who actually has some conscience, believe it or not. He often puts on an image of being more arrogant and cockier and more of a bastard than he actually is. He is extremely devoted to his country, and doesn’t really care what people think of him, unless they’re Reyson or someone else he’s really close to. He doesn’t really have any personal values. He acts unconcerned with everything. For example, in the war against Ashnard, he originally was like “Why should I care?” However, bringing up Reyson or Leanne immediately downs his defenses. Still, he puts a lot of effort into this image of his and chides Nealuchi every time Nealuchi calls him “Nestling” because let’s face it, being called “Nestling” doesn’t do much for projecting a badass image.
With people he knows well, he’s still cocky and a bastard, but there’s an element of care in it. Maybe he won’t do anything to protect them, but he’ll expend a considerable amount of effort to ensure that they are well. Although he doesn’t care about people he doesn’t know, he does care about these people, and he does show some emotion to them. It’s the same with his countrymen. He will give up his friends and his own feelings to protect his ravens.
If he’s faced with an unpleasant task, he’ll do it without hesitation, if he must. After all, if he has to do the task, grumbling about it won’t make it any less unpleasant.
